Biking Info

Guides

Our guides are professional bikers with many years of experience in Mountain biking. All our guides are local professional guides, who speak English, trained in first aid skills, with vast knowledge of mechanics.

Fitness

You must have a minimum of fitness level. We don’t need you to be a professional racer but the better physical level you are in the more you will enjoy your trip. To join any tour you should be able to pedal 40 km a day on flat land. Typical day rides are shorter but you will be cycling along single tracks, up hills with strong head winds and steep descents that are more challenging than flat ground. These trips are designed to be suitable for a wide range of different abilities. Having prior technical experience will help but, if you do not, your mountain bike leaders will help you to learn basic off-road techniques.

Levels

Our Tours are designed for people in medium and good physical training conditions, 99% of our tours are developed in Single tracks, and any ride even an easy one will be enjoyed more if you are in good physical training conditions.

Beginner

Riders in this level have some experience riding basic off road trails but roots, drops and steeper terrain can still be pretty challenging. You're ready to learn some more advanced bike handling skills to ride more confidently. We will give you some technical advice for the beginners, after and during each trip.
Rhythm: A beginner bike tour leaves you chance to follow your own pace. Normally we bike at an easy speed.
Distances: Between 5 to 10 km.

Intermediate

This stage is for the rider who is comfortable with most of the trails and ready to find more! Riders in this level shouldn't have too many problems with steep terrain, roots, rocks, and stunts, but are looking to fine tune the skills necessary to ride smoothly and with a flow. You will be introduced to harder trails in challenging terrain. This group will be formed by people with experience riding single tracks, with long uphill sections and steep downhill’s who ride often 1 or more times in a week.

Rhythm: An intermediate bike tour leaves you the chance to follow your own pace, but there will be an established distance to be covered. Customer will need to be in shape and have previous experiences on mountain biking.

Fitness and technical requirement: Intermediate bike tours have a substantial fitness and technical ability requirement through the dirt roads and single tracks covered. We would be running stages above 2000 meters over the sea level.

Distances: Between 15 to 30 km.

Advanced

This group is for confident riders, looking to take their riding experience to the next level. Bikers will be comfortable with steep terrain, roots and rocks and stunts. Riders will have good physical training conditions, good handling in technical and demanding single tracks with big ascents and high steep downhill’s sections.
Rhythm: In an advanced bike tour the riders will be challenged with challenging terrain, new trails, new skills and a faster pace. Customer will need to be in shape and have previous challenging bike trip experiences and technical ability.
Fitness and technical requirement: Advanced bike tours have an important fitness and technical ability requirement through the dirt roads and single tracks covered. We would be running stages above 3000 meters over the sea level.
Distances: Between 20 to 35 km

Bikes

You should bring at least a hard tail bike with suspension fork or a bike with double suspension. The bike must be in good mechanical condition. Gloves, protection and helmet use is obligatory. Normally when you fly, bikes are carried free of charge as part of your luggage allowance. In case that you don't want to bring your own bike, you may rent one from us (please advise if you would need to rent one).
It is not necessary to bring mechanical equipment, as our company will provide it.
The bikes coming from outside Peru must be registered at the Peruvian custom. We will need the brand, model, color and serial number of your mountain bike.

The Group

Who will be joining us? Usually riders who will join us in these kinds of trips would be women and men between the ages of 18 and 60, singles, couples and, sometimes, groups of friends. And we all have in common is the love for an experience where bikes and scenery are combined, meeting on our trips other people with the same interests.
What size will my group be? Normally the average is 4 to 12 bikers plus our guides. We can enlarge the number of participants but no more than 20 bikers. This enables us to provide a personalized service for all of our clients.

Communication

You'll be assisted at all times by a bilingual guide (Spanish - English) who also is a trained specialist in first aid techniques, physical fitness and mountain bike touring.

Insurance

Mountain biking is a high-risk sport, there is an inherent risk involved, so we recommend the hiring of a medical insurance against accidents. We recommend hiring a medical insurance in which a helicopter pickup is included.

For this reason, we take all necessary precautions, that’s why a helmet (Intermediate and Advance bikers should bring full face helmets) and cycling gloves are essential as well as elbow and kneepads. In addition, we carry a first aid kit, explain preventive measures (i.e. teach participants how to ride with awareness).
